Javea memories

Created by Marie one year ago

I have such wonderful memories of Richard, my wonderful father in law, on our family trips to Javea.

One such memory was the time we hired an 8 seater mini bus that Richard drove with Jes at the front directing. We turned up to Javea late in the evening and Richard sped along the seafront and straight over some speed bumps that saw us flying through the air! We couldn't stop laughing how we had arrived on our holiday like the Dukes of Hazzard!

We used to stay in a fabulous apartment that was right near the seafront and Richard loved it there. We would go off in the morning down to the beach with Harry and Emily, Richard and Lynn's grandchildren. Richard would be 'Beach Ready' with his trousers, shirt and his signature sunhat. He loved the heat and could handle it well, even dressed in his shirt and trousers! In the evening we would find a restaurant to eat and Richard would often have his favourite seafood and a glass of wine. Later on, Lynn and I would walk the children back to the apartment and have an evening chatting on the balcony whilst Jes and his Dad would stay out, drinking in Carnaval, a bar where Chris worked.

We loved our holidays and days out together to Whipsnade Zoo and Woburn Safari Park. Richard also enjoyed a Steam train ride which we often did when the children were small. He thoroughly enjoyed our recent trip on The Pullman and I'm so glad that he got to do it as he was so looking forward to it.

Richard was a wonderful father in law, a great Dad and a fantastic Grandad. He absolutely doted on his four Grandchildren....they could do no wrong in his eyes! We all loved him very much and will miss him dearly 💖
